The first piece of collateral form for Bouguereau comes today with Patkai, who runs in the final race at Chester. I like him as a bet. He was staying on in the Newbury race and will surely benefit from the extra two furlongs – he may also prefer the ground today. 90 doesn’t look like too harsh a mark and the Stoute team are going a lot better now than they were a few weeks back.
I like Froissee in the 3:40 at Beverley, running for Simon Callaghan who took over from his father this year. The stable could certainly be doing better but it’s no disaster – I think Froissee may be better than his bare form and everything is thereabouts right for him today – worth a look at a big price. In the 4:50 Piccolo Pete looks likely to give a good account of himself – he should appreciate the extra furlong and again conditions look thereabouts right for him.
Tonight we run Kings Head at Huntingdon. We were hoping for a good run last time but he ran like a drain, which was disappointing. Conditions today are better with firmer ground and a likely faster race which we think will suit. I’m quietly hopeful.
