One runner today, and with a very decent chance. Major Eazy, a nice 2yo last year, came back a couple of weeks ago and ran a very nice race at Ascot. We didn’t expect much that day and we were pleasantly surprised – he should be fully fit now and ready to do the business.
He has a decent draw in 4, which is important as he is a front runner. He’ll probably try to make all, so a get-out in running is a possibility. His RP write up talks about the “bounce factor” – horses often perform well in their first run back from a break but run badly in their second run back. It’s a possible concern – he is very well in himself and has made great physical progress since 2, so I’m positive.
Bea Menace ran poorly yesterday. There may be excuses and the Coles think she’s better than that run – let’s hope so. Her sister, Mystery Sail, also runs today at Great Leighs – I’d heard the stable have had trouble getting her right, but she may be a lot better than her bare form. I think she’s worth a bet.
Parisian Gift comes out on Friday at Wolver. I have two possible runners on Monday – Nicky Nutjob and Mon Michel. I’ll be in Australia by then – I’m going down for ten days.
