Day 2 of life outside of Betfair, and already bored and depressed – after years of being institutionalised within Betfair I feel lost and alone, like Brooks in the Shawshank Redemption. I’m contemplating carving my name on a rafter in my office and hanging myself with my Betfair tie. Goodbye cruel world.
But there’s no great rush as it’s another great days racing – hooray!! I have one running in the first at Ascot – Better Together – and I strongly advise all readers of my blog not to back him. He is big, weak and slow – maybe one for the Grand National one day but not one for a novice hurdle at Ascot. Nick runs By George in the same race, and he has a squeak – winning would be a stretch but possibly worth a bet in the place market. Song of Songs in an interesting runner in the 1:40, and despite being a short price may be worth a go. In the last Gary runs Sandymac, and he should have a chance. Mon Michel failed to get into the Ladbroke tomorrow and will go for a race at Kempton on the 27th – Ours may run on the same day at Leicester.
Had plenty of beers on Wednesday night with a good Betfair turnout. Kenny Logan turned up, giving me my celeb namecheck. I had a good reminisce with a few old Betfairians who came along – I might publish some of my Betfair memories on here to pass the time.
