One runner today – Bea Menace goes in the 2:30 at Lingfield and she has a great chance. First time up she needed the run, although she still came close to winning. Second time at Warwick the ground came up on the soft side, which was a concern before the race and we concluded that she didn’t really like it. Now she comes out on the polytrack, which should be ok.
It isn’t a straightforward task – Test Match could be anything and Piccolo Mondo sets a fair bar. I think 7f is the right trip. I’ll back her, but with the imponderables it won’t be a big bet. Her full sister, Mystery Sail, runs at Great Leighs tomorrow and she may be better than her recent form suggests – if Bea runs well we’ll have an idea of how the family handle the all-weather.
Teia Tephi was supposed to be running today but she was found to have a sore shin on Sunday and is on the easy list for a week or so. She was down to run in the 2:20 at Yarmouth – Pete runs Bombina instead, and this could be the time to catch her. She’s out of a precocious mare who won first time up on her way to three 2yo wins – she’s by a 2yo sire and was an early foal.
