Feeling sheepish

No good for Pansy, but an fair run and the general view seems to be that she’s still a bit of a baby and will progress as the season goes on.  She didn’t look to get the mile and seven furlongs looks more the ticket.  Next time out we’ll run her up with the pace a little more.

The positives; she’s genuine and has a positive attitude, and she’s a nice looking type.  The negative; she’s running in a very low grade and she’ll have to improve a great deal if we are to get our money back in the sales.

Marine Boy will not now run on the weekend, and will probably not come out again until the Mill Reef.  Prince Ary has also been withdrawn on account of the very soft ground.  At this stage I’m not sure when my next runner will be.  Lilac Moon will come out around the 16th.  Bet Noir is looking for a run, and could go at Kempton on the 10th.  Nicky Nutjob will be out as soon as the ground improves.  Mon Michel is targetting the Cesarewitch in October and could be out beforehand.

Nicky Vaughan has sent me some pictures of Lilac Moon, who has forged an unlikely friendship with his pet sheep Forrest;

Lilac has developed into a really nice looking mare, and I’m hoping to have her on the stud one day.  Nothing against Forrest, but we’ll probably look for a more traditional stallion for her.  Sheepdogs have proved very popular over the years, but sheephorses have not fared so well:
