Peintre D’Argent ran nicely, looking like the winner for a moment before being tapped for toe, finishing third. She’s still a baby and needs time to mature – I think she’ll make up into a nice animal one day.
Two runners today, and a couple that I’m really looking forward to seeing out.
Astrodome goes in the first at Sandown, and I’m excited to see him out on the course. He’s a giant of a horse in flat terms and looks more of a chaser than a hurdler, although he had enough poke to win a couple of weak races on the flat.
He’s pretty much any price you like at the moment – I’ve just backed him at 160 on Betfair. He should run a really good race though – he’ll go on the surface and this is far more his game than the flat. I wouldn’t expect him to win (although I wouldn’t rule it out) as he’s not quick enough, but he should gallop to the end and could easily run a place.
Theophrastus goes in the 3:45, and at odds of around 50 he’s a comparative short shot. Again I expect him to run well – he’ll handle the ground and he’s fit enough. He’s more of a 3 mile chaser in the making and he’ll find a few in the race that have too much speed, but again he’ll gallop all the way to the line and I couldn’t rule a place out.
It’s a punchy each-way double – will need luck to come in but entirely possible.
