Just a quick note about Winker Watson’s run yesterday. Before the race it seemed that he had two questions to answer – 1) Had he trained on and 2) Would he stay a mile ? Thankfully the answer to the first one was positive though we got a clear no to the second. Ryan Moore said after the race that he thought he would win two furlongs out despite coming from a bit further back than he had planned. His assessment was that he was probably on the best horse in the race over 7 furlongs but that Winker had failed to get home.
Peter C-H will now look for a race back in trip. Deauville is a possibility. For now it’s fingers crossed that he comes out of the race OK. Yesterday was only the fifth run of his life and there will be plenty of options this season and next for him to go on from here.
