I’ve got a lot of horse action coming up over the next few weeks and I’m in the middle of a busy working time, so time for a good download;
Theophrastus has finally been showing decent form, and he goes again on Tuesday over 3m6f. He’s off a mark of 115 having won back to back handicaps, but he’s in such positive spirits that he could go in again. One to back if the price is right I think.
Thingathong disappointed last time, which I think was down to the ground. Monster Munchie disappointed last time at Lingfield. Both of these will be out soon – borth have a little ability but I don’t see myself backing either of them until they give a little more encouragement.
I have a 2yo Dutch Art filly out of Baldovina and she has been named Van Go Go. She’s a smallish early type and although not in the top rank at Manor House she’s showing plenty of toe on the gallops. She’ll run on Thursday or Friday and should go well.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Manor House 2yos go in the next few weeks – we had problems last year but everything is good just at the moment and several of the youngsters are working well. Van Go Go will be an interesting pointer to the better horses in the line up.
Nemo Spirit has returned to Manor House from Tim Vaughn after his gallant second at Cheltenham. That was good work, and he might be coming back to form – he’s fallen a long way in the handicap and may be worth following – his target is the Chester Cup but he may not get in off his current mark so he needs to win one.
Present Danger has had minor lameness issues and may have a slow start to the season. Whey Sauce is not quite there yet – I’m not sure when she’ll be out.
I have a few 2yos with Michael for this year – horses that were bought to sell on to owners that we haven’t managed to fimd homes for. A couple of them have been showing good early dash and may be out soon – more to follow.
Other 2yos; I have a Nayef filly, a homebred Byron filly and a homebred Motivator filly at Manor House and a Selkirk filly with David Simcock. None of these are early types and I don’t know a lot about them yet.
Blue Jack and Morana are both fine though neither will be out too early. Wolf Slayer and Malpas Missile both have it to do as 3yos being sprinty early 2yo types, but both are well.
Saving the best till last – the one I have real hopes for this year is Sumday Bess. She came second in an average Lingfield maiden – hardly top class form – but she is a galloper with an engine and may be ready to show her class now. She’ll probably go for a newbuiry maiden on Friday week.
