Quite a few old favourites running today, and I’ll be having a few bets.
I spent a fair bit of time with Pete C-H last week, and he runs Spirit of Sharjah in the first at Ascot. From what I’ve heard of the horse I give him a small edge over his principal opponent Captain Gerrard, another favourite of mine and a reliable yardstick. SoS is a bit of a monkey and may be a tricky ride, but the price justifies a bet for me. In the 3.35 at Ascot I may side with Major Willy who may be able to make his experience show against a few well hyped rivals.
At York in the first I’ll go small on Goodbye Mister Bond, who is back to the right mark. Major Eazy goes in the third, and having spoken to my co-owners I’ll be backing him – I’ll also back Max One Two Three who is a lovely looking filly with some talent. In the 3.45 I’ll side with Zomerlust, who may have conditions right and is a price. In the last I’ll go with Market Forces, a horse who really caught my eye in the early season but looked as if she would be better for more time, which she has now had.
In Prince Ary’s race I note that Chaninbar runs – this may be an incredibly well handicapped horse, and if fit could walk away with the race.
