Major Eazy goes for the National Stakes at Sandown tonight. We still have a fair bit to learn about the horse. On balance it feels as if the conditions of the race are a small negative – the draw looks moderate, we think he’ll go on the ground but it’s an imponderable we could do without. On the other side of the coin I think his form is far better than appears – I’ve watched his last race several times and I have a lot of sympathy with Jamie Spencer’s view that he would have won with a clear run last time. His recent gallops work has been good. The price is ok and I think he’s worthy of a small bet, but I won’t be having the mortgage on.
