A return to the Derby winner’s enclosure will be every bit as emotional for P C-H as it was for Henry Cecil yesterday in the Oaks. Yet I can’t back him at the price – am I the only person who has a nagging doubt that Frankie is not riding at his best at the moment ? For me, there is huge value looking for the e/w alternative. Everyone is looking for the Dettori headline so how about this one – Eastern Anthem, the Godolphin horse he rejected, gets up late to beat him ? His three figure price is ridiculous with genuine excuses possible for both races (rides?!) this season. On tacky,drying ground, a dour stayer rather than a superstar may be needed to win this year’s race and nobody is riding better than Kerrin McEvoy at the moment.
