Disappointing yesterday. Teia Tephi ran no race and is a candidate for early retirement. She has plenty of ability on her limited home work but she has dodgy joints, and when push came to shove yesterday she didn’t want to go through with it. Open Glory ran a reasonable race all things considered. Richard tried to get her to the front but it didn’t happen – she went round the wide outside and tired in the closing stages. She has a nice enough action and frame but she’s still too weak – she should continue to improve but the plan was to sell her at the end of the year and she may not have shown much ability by then.
Swindon made a couple of signings from Celtic yesterday, including a striker – this is great news. It could all be coming together.
Maxwell Hawke runs today, dropping back to six furlongs. He had no luck last time, spreading a plate mid race. He has a very good chance today – he has the ability but we don’t know if he’s going to have the right attitude. Fingers crossed.
